Season’s Greetings from the Vetcall Team.

christmas wallpaper with a cat and a dog wearing christmas hats hd cat and dog wallpaperAs 2015 draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Kash and Helen for the support they have given to Colin and myself throughout the year, for their dedication and taking such great care of you and your pets.

Sadly this month we farewell Helen. After a couple of months travelling in Europe earlier in the year she well and truly caught the travel bug and is heading overseas on an extended working holiday. Helen has been with us for 3 years. We will miss her loads and wish her all the best.

Stepping into Helens role is Lucy Van’t Wout. Lucy is a recent veterinary nursing graduate and will be a familiar face to many of you from her student nursing days, and more recently she has been doing some locum nursing for us. Lucy is also heavily involved with our preferred cat charity, Cat Rescue Christchurch.

We also welcome back Katrina Fagan.  Katrina is a qualified veterinary nurse who originally joined the team in 2009. After a hiatus nursing in a variety of vet practices both in the UK and locally, Vetcall remained a favourite and she found she just couldn't stay away! She can be found covering the Saturday morning shift for the full time nurses.

It has been a busy year on the home front juggling the rebuild of our home and family life. Luca turns seven this month and Erika has recently turned four.  They both love swimming, bike riding and camping, and are keen skiers.  Most weekends and holidays tend to revolve around these activities.

In lieu of a third child we now have a fur kid.  Flash is an Abyssinian kitten and is now 7 months old. His name describes him well - he is very handsome and very fast.  He loves climbing and is proving much more of a challenge to parent than our kids!

Colin is out on his mountain bike most weekends and plays the bag pipes with a local band.  I have been doing my usual gymming and occasional mountain biking to offset my passion for food and wine.  Earlier in the year we rode the St James Cycle Way, and completed the Motatapu and Peel Forest mountain bike races (the latter two in such terrible conditions that we have not planned anything for this summer yet!)

We have been lucky to have regular vet locum support from Ann Wood and Susanne Anderson through the year and have been able to enjoy good family time away from the clinic.

Fleas ruin Friendships…..don’t forget your friend this summer:

With the recent warmer weather the flea population is booming so please remember to keep your pets up to date.  For those of you using Revolution or Activyl, this is a monthly application. Bravecto chewable treats for dogs should be given 3 monthly.  If you are using 3 monthly Broadline on your cat, remember that the flea control component only lasts for a month and you will need to top up your flea control on the in between months with either Activyl or Revolution.

We have a Christmas Hamper to give away this month filled with yummy treats of the human kind. Purchase Activyl to be in the draw to win. Winner will be drawn and winner notified on Thursday 24th December.

For those of you intending to put your pet in a boarding facility over the holiday period please remember to get their vaccinations up to date in advance and avoid a last minute panic visit to the clinic or them being refused entry.

Thank you for your loyalty and support during 2015.  We would like to wish you, and all the special people and pets in your life, a very happy and safe festive season.  We look forward to our continued partnership in the care of your pets in 2016 and beyond.

Best wishes,

Claire and Colin Cable and the Vetcall Team.
