Wishing you a very Merry Christmas

2016 has been another busy and successful year for the team and we would like to take this opportunity to thank-you for your loyalty and support throughout the year.

Thanks also to our wonderful nurses Kash and Lucy who have really worked hard this year to support Colin and I and provide excellent service to our growing numbers of clients and pets. In November we welcomed Tessa to our nursing team. Tessa is a new graduate nurse who has recently completed her training and is a familiar face around the clinic as she did all her student work experience with us. With Tessa on board we now have two nurses working during the day which will mean more efficiency behind the scenes and improved standards of care for our patients and service for our clients.

Congratulations to Kash and her long-time partner Dany who finally got married in October. We were lucky enough to be able to celebrate their big day with them along with the many other furry guests and we wish them many years of happiness and health.

Veterinary highlights for Colin and I this year have been the opportunity to attend the annual Wanaka Conference in August where we had some excellent lectures on rabbit dentistry and anaesthesia and common feline geriatric diseases.  As a result we have some new techniques and protocols in place and it is very satisfying to see the benefits to our patients.  In March 2017 we will be attending the Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas. This is the biggest veterinary conference in the world and is an amazing opportunity to keep up with the latest developments in veterinary medicine and surgery.

Luca Erika RiverOGR

On the family front we finally moved back into our rebuilt home in March. We are very happy to be home and put this chapter of our lives behind us. Erika started school in October and loves it along with her ballet, swimming and making arrangements with her dolls and farm set in her room. Luca has really got into his skiing this year and is keeping up with Colin and I now which is lots of fun. He is involved in an array of after school activities which keeps the family taxi running and diary full.  Colin and I mountain biked the Old Ghost Road Trail in May over a couple of days with some friends – definitely the best single track ride we have ever done and we have riding the Heaphy Track in the calendar for next year.

Thanks to our locum vets Ann Wood and Ngaire Dixon who cover our annual leave, and a special big thank-you to Susanne Anderson who has provided regular weekend locum cover for us through the year and enabled us to have some really good family time.
